Terms and Conditions

Swimming Lessons

1. Booking and Payment

  • Lesson Types: 1:1 and 2:1 swimming lessons are available. All bookings must be made in advance.
  • Session Duration: Each lesson is 30 minutes long and is designed for swimmers in waves 1 to 7.
  • Payment: Payment is made upon arrival at the pool reception. No money is taken to reserve the lesson slot.

2. Cancellations and Missed Lessons

  • Client Cancellations: Clients can cancel with a minimum of 3 hours’ notice. If less notice is given, a £5 cancellation fee will apply, which can be paid at a later date. Two unpaid cancellation fees will result in the forfeiture of the lesson slot to another student.
  • Instructor Cancellations: If I need to cancel a lesson, I will notify you as soon as possible. Since no payment is made in advance, no refunds are required, and rescheduling will depend on available pool time.
  • Missed Lessons: If a child refuses to participate or enter the water on the day of the lesson, the session will be forfeited. However, I will work with parents to create a plan to help the child for future lessons, and provide additional support via email or phone.

3. Health and Safety

  • Medical Conditions: It is essential to inform me of any medical issues that could affect your child’s ability to learn or their safety in the water. Please update me on any significant changes in their health.
  • Behavioural Challenges: I am happy to work with children experiencing behavioural challenges, tailoring the session to suit how they are feeling on the day. I kindly ask that parents provide any relevant information to help me deliver the best experience for your child.

4. Parental Involvement

  • Supervision: Parents/guardians must remain on the premises during lessons and are welcome to observe the session.
  • In-Water Assistance: In some cases, especially if a child is struggling with water confidence, a parent or friend may be invited into the water during a 1:1 lesson (subject to pool reception charges and specific circumstances). For 2:1 lessons, parents are not allowed in the water.

5. Behaviour and Conduct

  • Pool Rules: All children are expected to adhere to pool safety rules. If inappropriate or dangerous behaviour occurs, I reserve the right to end the lesson early and, if necessary, refuse further lessons. This will always be discussed with the parent or guardian first.

6. GDPR and Data Protection

  • Data Collection: I store your child’s details (name, swimming capabilities, and emergency contact information) securely via Google Forms and spreadsheets. Your information is only used for lesson administration purposes, and no paper records are kept.
  • Data Sharing: Your data is not shared with the pool, aside from your child’s name, which is given to the pool reception staff to book them in on arrival.

7. Photography and Media

  • No Photography Policy: Photography and video recording are not permitted on the premises.

8. Illness Policy

  • Sickness and Attendance: If your child is unwell, it’s recommended they do not attend the lesson, as their ability to learn may be affected. I appreciate as much notice as possible for cancellations due to illness.

9. Liability and Insurance

  • Risk and Liability: While every effort is made to ensure your child’s safety during lessons, swimming is taken at your own risk. I hold public liability insurance as a swimming teacher and coach, and the pool also has its own insurance.
